Calendar Collection

Fall 2009, Structure and Expressiveness in Visual Communication
The assignment was to design a calendar for three different months that included the name of the month, the year, the seven days of the week—and the dates of the month. I began my process with a primary grid and structure, followed by the development of elements that would interact with the numbers of the first grid. The explosion of shapes in perspective was derived from the negative space found between typeface characters, ultimately spelling the name of the month and year. My goal was to create a design that maintained functionality, while creating a layered aesthetically pleasing design statement.

Intended size:
7 inches by 10 inches
